Workshop Note

When I entered this room at the exhibition at Mumok and saw this woman from the side, three thoughts quickly entered my mind:

1) Why does she look so bored? It's such an amusing show!
2) Is she really allowed to lean against the wall, so close to the paintings?
3) Is she real?

I soon found out that her name was "Woman with a purse", created in 1974 by Duane Hanson (1925-1996) and consisting of "fiberglass, polyester, synthetic resin, suet and articles of clothing".

The painting next to her is by Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997) and is called "M-Maybe (A Girl's Picture)", painted in 1965.
