Photographer's Note

Nuuksio National Park is inside the so called Nuuksio lake uplands, the most extensive and ecologically important continuous backwoods area in the Uusimaa Region. The national park is inside three municipalities, Espoo (my home city), Vihti and Kirkkonummi.
Nuuksio lake uplands is a real treasure for nature lovers and is ideal for hiking trips lasting one or two days. Being less than 40 km from the urban areas it has been a popular outdoor recreation area already for a long time.

Typical for the landscape is the steep topography of rocks, numerous lakes or ponds and marshes in the valleys. The height of the terrain varies between 24 and 114 m.

Due to the broken bedrock the vegetation is mosaic like. On the bottoms of the ruptured valleys there are wooded swamps, where the main woods are pines and spruces, with occasional birches or alders. The most versatile and lush forests are located on the slopes and bottoms of the valleys, where you can also find aspen, and sometimes even linden or maples. The vegetation on the rocky hills varies from dry lichen rocks to damp moss dips.

This small lake is called "Hynkänlampi". It also has a name "Jylhälampi" in some older maps and that name means "craggy pond", which name fits well to this pond.

- Adobe RAW: Tint +6 -> +10, Recovery 25 (to make the sky less dull), clarity 40.
- PS: cropping to 4:3 to remove "noisy" left edge and sharpening. After resize and framing light sharpening again.
