Photographer's Note

This Saint Nicolas church was built in 1839 in a former Cossack stanitsa, which now is a village. The stanitsa Moskovskaya was under repressions and renamed into the village Moskovskoe after Cossacks’ insurrections against Soviet power in the later 1920s.

As I was told by a local man, the church is now attended by maximum 60 inhabitants of the village, where there were 5385 persons in 2002. But he said that the local house of culture, which was an alternative of the church at the Soviet times, now is attended even worse.
