Piriapolis fue ideada y creada por Francisco Piria, quién lo llamó "El Balneario del Porvenir".
Dentro de las construcciones que Piria llevó a cabo se destacan:
El Castillo de Piria (su residencia personal)
El Puerto de Piriápolis
La Rambla de los Argentinos
El Ferrocarril
La Iglesia (que nunca fue terminada ni utilizada como tal)
El Hotel Piriápolis
El Argentino Hotel
La rambla está decorada por vistosas columnas y macetones. En la foto una de las columnas, con el atardecer de una tarde nublada, el mar y el arena.

The Church (never finished neither used as a church)

The boardwalk or promenade is decorated by columns and planters. In the picture one of the columns, with the sunset in a cloudy afternoon, the sea and sand.
