Photographer's Note
some (let's not name names here) claim to have found El Dorado, the legendary place of precious stones and gold coins. but I was there at sunrise, I saw it first (as attested in this shot), so it's all mine. at least this particular version of El Dorado, which happens to be Cerro Lejía about 40km from the town of Socaire.
jokes aside, I was fascinated with the clouds. the sky was completely clear, except for little puffy pillows (lenticular clouds that from in high altitudes) for every volcano in sight.

Hello Kristine,
I like the colors of this picture : the grass on the foreground and the mountains have a warm light on their, and the sky is so dark, it makes an interesting contrast.
This lonely cloud over the mountain is so strange !

Hi, today I have two photos neighbouring from Chile - yours and kristap's. have you had a small TE-meeting in the Altiplano? Beautiful sunrise view, golden hour, with this lone lenticular cloud.
I like this Chilean grass. Regards

Kristine,
With each post I get a better and clearer idea of this place. Reminded me very much of the Andie when I was in Peru, except this seem even drier and more arid. What a great big sky, the evening light creating long shadows giving really nice contrast of the volcano. And that cloud top it off. Thanks

Hi Kristine,
do you think 3 days is enough for getting a good experience in this land? In two weeks is the "carnaval brasileiro", I'll get 4 days off and I'm really interested about visitng this part of the planet :) I love the tangential and warm light in this one. It enhances every single detail of the great mountain. Great shot!

WOW for you too Kristine, the deep shadows and the rich color are awesome. As I wrote to Kristaps you are going to run out of place to hang all these wonderful images, you guys should open a web sited and sell them, like Peter. Great capture.

Hi, Kristine.
I guess I'll have to fall back on one of my favorite lines for this one : simple + beautiful = simply beautiful! Terrific shadowplay, dark and moody and absolutely stunning... what can I possibly add... love it! Have a nice weekend, I'll be seeing you. HUGS,
Fulvio.

Dear Kristine,
Dropping my last points today before i leave tomorrow. A dark moody picture with a great play of light and shadow. Love that cloud on top, makes all the difference in light and focalpoint. Those layers of light and shadow in front are also very beautiful, it creates the depth and brings us to the far background...
Kind regards,
Henk

Hi, Kristine -
Do I detect a little shooting rivalry brewing here? ;-)
This photo is a bit dark, but that adds to the atmosphere, making it clear just how early in the morning it was. And the cloud is a nice touch.
Best,
Dan

Kristine :))) You are fast and furious like my orange salt dish ... but I try my best to keep up and find the right words. This is wonderful, just wonderful. It IS the cloud! A lonely cloud in this deep blue sky, what on earth does it do there :))) how did it get there, the strangest thing. I mean it is dry as can be and yet there is some moisture there. Wonderful the long shadows playing their own exciting role ... you win an oscar for this one! Good night now ... Barbara.
PS. No way it is too dark but you need a good screen to appreciate the full beauty (mine at work is always not the same like here at home ... big big difference).

Hi Kristine,
The rich light that gives us the varying shades of gold and green blend wonderfully with the vivid blue late day sky.
Love the smooth texture and shadowed lines of the treeless mountains and of course that lovely cloud clinging to the rounded peak.

Hello Kristine
So being the first one to claim El Dorado to be your own, how much did you reap? :-) You shot lead me to Kristaps post, which I have to comment on as well. Yes, the key to the beauty of this shot is the cloud, almost like a piece of cotton wool desperately holding onto the ledge of the volcano. The early morning light & the play of shadows & light makes this sublime...a beauty, what a travellogue you're building up!
Best Regards
Angshu

This one is stunning, not to say that the other pics you have taken are not interesting. A very inspiring gallery, indeed, making me feel I really want to follow the same route ASAP. Thanks for sharing these, Tom
