I'm an engineer, belonging to a swiss family mainly of architects (one grandfather was a sculptor), and living in Brazil since 1978.
As an amateur with Nikon FM in the 70's and FE2 in the 80's, I did my first steps into digital photography in 2000 with a Fujifilm FinePix 1300 (though not for long due to a durability issue). Next experiences were with Canon: A85, A95, A620 and S3IS.
Since 2007 I'm a happy owner of the astonishing Nikon D40. It has recently won a mirrorless rival, the Panasonic GH2, which I most use nowadays, besides the Canon S3 and my permanent companion, the Panasonic FX-550.
Seems a never ending story ... ;-)
To the industry my congratulations for its truly fast technological progress on digital cameras for amateurs (and pros) in the last few years, but IMHO there's still a lot of space for evolution, especially in the low light, speed and ergonomics departments. Competition helps and we users appreciate!
