The girl's smile is truly beautiful, and you did a great job capturing it. Her personality really shows! However those two really bright lights in the background kept distracting me, so I cropped in to remove them. IMO it's OK to crop in a little on the top of the head, as long as the face is still showing. I also increased the contrast just slightly (+7) - it seemed to play up her cheekbones (and that smile) just a bit.
Best wishes, Nina

Using Photoshop:
I cropped so that the bright of the white in the corner didn't distract from his face and so he was not as centered. I used the equalize function which is very harsh at first, but then I faded the effect to 24% and used the soft light blending option. I despeckled to remove some of the grain. Added a little more contrast and a frame.
Hoping you like it.

I rotated this photo about 1.3 degrees CCW.
Then I converted to black and white.
I decreased the brightness -5.
I increased the contrast +10.
I dodged the rock outcroppings near the bottom and in the water.
I burned in the farthest large rock cropping.
Unfortunately, the large tree in the foreground creates a large black area that was mostly unfixable.
Hope you like it!

2. Adjusted shadows/highlights so that highlights had less intensity and shadows had more
3. Darkened photo -3%
4. Slight yellow photo filter
5. Burned in area in upper right
6. Dodged shadow of cloud
That's it. Hope you like it!

As mentioned I thought the pic was good already so my suggested modifications are minimal and fairly standard. The most important was to correct the levels as there was a bit of a cast over the pic. Then I provided a little more contrast by using curves and finally I sharpened it up. I do think it stands a little more crisp.
Don't know if this is helpful. If its not what you were looking for you should ask one of the many TE'ers who is more of a photoshop- buff than I am.
Cheers,
Mikkel
