Photographer's Note

One of my early images, taken on good old Nikon F80 and Ilford Delta 100...what a great combination.

Picture was taken near Torc Waterfalls in Killarney National Park, Co Kerry. It is not, strangely, image of the main waterfall, rather of the stream a little way down the road. I like the details around the stream, and the fact that the water is almost black (I had to use polarizer to cut down the glare and reflections on the water as the image would look too busy). It kind of creates the feel the stream is really deep...

Since I started to work digitally I am yet to be convinced, that digital can achieve such details and tonality in black and white prints. I miss film, I really do...

Technical details:
Camera: Nikon F80
Lens: Tokina 28-70mm F2.8 ATX-Pro set at 28mm
Film: Ilford Delta 100
Other: circular polarizer, spirit level, cable release.

Print was scanned using Canon SmartBase MP700 Photo. This is my first print I have ever scanned, so please don't judge the clarity, details, etc. as I am just getting used to this technique.
