Photographer's Note

Chongwu Sculpture Park (entry fee 25 yuan) is an unusual sight, right on the beach in southern China. Access is by minibus from Quanzhou, which is a small town north of Xiamen, a large city which faces Taiwan. Shot on a cold, bleak, overcast midwinter's day.

The old city wall & lighthouse can be seen in the distance, on top of the promontory. The city wall was built in 1387 ad to keep out Japanese pirates. The "Ancient" City Stone Park is much more recent (last 10-20 years), although some of the sculptures are fairly old. ACSP stretches along about 2km of coastline with 500 sculptures scattered about on the cliffs & beach.

If enough people show an interest, I will post more tomorrow from this locale. (eg A giant carved fish on the cliff face in the distance.)

This overview gives an idea of scale.
