Photographer's Note

I decided to make a small brake from my travelogue "The best of Turkey" as I prepaired something new to add to "Flower of Scotland" theme.

If you ever happen to come to Edinburgh climb the Calton Hill located on the East End of Princes Street. That`s one of the most popular places for evening walks and the easiest way to see the panorama of Edinburgh. It`s a really good point for shooting Princes Street or Edinburgh Castle.

It lasted quite long but after many visits at Calton Hill I got the satisfing result. This time the sunset was mostly hidden, because of stormy clouds foreshadowing the New Year`s Eve hurricane which came soon...

The wind was stronger than normally and really freezing. Fortunatelly the visibility became perfect just for a couple of minutes before the full dusk and mist.

Then I had a chance to get the photograph that I always wanted. The framing was already in my mind as I visit this place often. I needed to make a several attempts to get a perfect frame, sharpness and exposure as the wind is not your ally when you set your camera on 20 seconds, even if you use such a heavy stuff.

It was probably the last moment for outdoor photography in 2006. The hurricane that came just a few hours later changed many people's plans for New Year`s Eve, inlcuding myself. The "Street Party" was over before it ever began : ] REGARDS!

Taken with 10d, Tokina 80-200/2.8 and tripod.
20 seconds, f/16, iso 100, raw.

More views and notes from Scotland in theme: "Flower of Scotland".
Thanks for visiting.
