Photographer's Note
A Via Ferrata is a high level pathway that uses iron/steel rungs and cables that are drilled into the rock face that were certified by geologist on site when they were constructed to ensure their strength, safety, and quality. Although not very aesthetic they allow hikers to move through spectacular and exposed section of the trail. I'm no rock climber. This is my third hike that involved Via Ferrata. I was unsure of the reliability of these giant staples as I saw cracks in the rock around them. Took this photo on a ledge before ascending this last rung.
Location: A section of the trail from Osterfelderkopf to Kreuzech in the Alpspitze.
