Photographer's Note

Much of Bali's coastline is made of rugged lava cliffs.

Just up from the water here, there is a small cave with an altar in it. There are steep steps leading down to this rustic temple, and during the festival I attended there was a stream of people coming up from a service, or going down and waiting outside the small cave for their turn inside.

I am practically hanging off a tree root, jammed off the side of the path to stay out of their way, while getting a vantage point for a few shots. As you can see, the people were friendly, welcoming and generally pleased to have their photo taken.
