Photographer's Note

Route 66 was once the main highway from Chicago to Los Angeles. Now only portions of it remain--other parts have been covered by interstate highways or absorbed into the road systems of cities and towns. The part through California's Mojave Desert has a few empty shells of abandoned buildings--houses, 1950's diners, others. This is one of those diners. One can almost see the ghosts of tail-finned cars and beehive hairdos.

My other postings of abandonment on Route 66 are here, here and here.
