Photographer's Note

The western coast of Dominica faces the Caribbean Sea. Driving north from Rouseau to Portsmouth, one drives through towns with colorful names like Massacre, Mahaut, and Layou. The road winds along the coast giving one beautiful views of small towns and fiords along the coast.

The beaches on Dominica are small and most consist of black sand, as you can see in this photo.

The photo has been cropped from the original. Contrast masking has also been used: Gaussian blur - 15 pixels; Opacity - 60%. Levels were adjusted manually. An unsharp mask of 20/50/0 was also applied.
