Photographer's Note

Kekova - the sunken city

A big lycian settlement, partly situated on the mainland and on the opposite island of Kekova, which became submerged after a heavy earthquake in the 2nd century AD.

In the water you will discover the groundings of old buildings and quays. Houses had been partly cut out of the rock.

Sailing along with fisherman is an experience you should not miss; they provide buckets with a glass bottom. At the respective places they will stop and you'll have a view on fields of amphoras, giving you the impression to be put there recently.

That morning I was lucky to be the only one at this place, a light breeze pushed me along the site, climbing up the mast gave this shot.

Spent a bit of time, to learn a bit more about Lycia
