Photographer's Note

I should have posted this photo on the first January. For some reason it reminded me the German phrase: “Einen Guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr!”, which translates simply as “Happy New Year!”. Ein Rutsch means a slide so literally the expression says: “I wish you a good slide into the New Year!”

My holidays on Crete last year were family beach holidays. In a very short time, I have seen so many beautiful places but since I was with my little daughter I had to think of her needs as well. For a child famous ruins of Knossos or charming town of Chania are much less exciting than a great pool next to the hotel. I was told by moderators that I am allowed to say in which hotel I have stayed. It was called Euphoria Resort in Kolymbari. From this angle you can see the main entrance to the hotel through a small waterpark area which was part of the hotel and was designed to be slightly away from the main pool area which is on the other side of the buildings. The hotel stretched to the beach which is less than 5 minutes walk from this point. It was a fantastic hotel. I enjoyed the location, service, pools, quality of food, everything. This little waterpark was a great advantage for my daughter. We have visited some of the largest waterparks before for example in Florida or Majorca but too often I found them very dangerous for children or even for adults. Sometimes you hit something with quite a high force and you may really get hurt. This place was of course a part of the hotel so we didn’t need to pay or take an extra day to visit, and there was a sufficient variety of slides for my daughter to enjoy. There was also an ice cream stand next to it.
