Photographer's Note

The Trumphal Arch in Brussels (Palais du Cinquantenaire). This monument was created on the World Exhibition to be held in 1897 (the exhibition presenting cultural, scientific and technical achievements). Two wings were linked in 1905 by a triumphal arch designed by the French architect Charles Girault. At the top of the Arch is a chariot with four horses, and on it a triumphant figure symbolizing Brabance, a historical land in Western Europe.
The triumphal arch is located in the Parc du Cinquantenaire, a large park in Brussels (30 ha). In the wings of the building there are three museums: Museum of Military History, Royal Art and History Museum and Motor Museum, called AutoWorld.
