Photographer's Note

When you approach Swayambhunath temple from the west you will be greeted by three giant statues of Buddha and his earthly manifestations. I don't think these works of art were affected by the earthquake of 2015 - they looked so perfect when I visited in 2016. But I admit I had not seen them earlier, as in 2014 I climbed up Swayambhunath hill from the east - quite a natural choice if you decide to walk from central Kathmandu rather than take a taxi or public transport (god help you if you choose the latter...).

Out of the three I thought this one the most beautiful. Maybe because Guru Rinpoche is one of the most important personae of the Bhutanese pantheon I had a pleasure to get familiar with a few years before I visited Nepal.

Instead of showing the group of statues I chose to post three individual photos, this and two Workshops.
