Reflected reflections, a photo from Vizcaya, Pais Vasco

Photographer's Note

My last pictures were kind of introduction to this one, just to give you the context. it is detail from the Kapoor's monumental Tall Tree and the Eye (2009), installed outside the museum alongside outdoor works by Louise Bourgeois, Daniel Buren, Jeff Koons, and Fujiko Nakaya, consists of 73 reflective spheres anchored around three axes. This illusionistic work continues the artist's examination of complex mathematical and structural principles embodied in sculptural form. The mirrored surfaces of the orbs reflect and refract one another, simultaneously creating and dissolving form and space. Images of the surrounding city, including the Nervión river, Buren's sculptural intervention on La Salve Bridge (Arcos rojos/Arku gorriak, 2007), and the museum itself, are cast into dynamic suspension.

I found it fascinating. All spheres were the same size, but in reflections we see big spheres, inside them smaller ones, and inside them still smaller, ... and so on. it reminds me the fractal structures.
The sculpture stands in water so it is not possible to come closer. You can see where the photographer stood :).

It's an ingenious creation by Anish Kapoor and a fine composition by you. This tight crop gives us a fascinating close look at some of the spheres and the never ending number of reflections in the reflections. It's fun to watch and you must have had a lot of fun taking these photos. Considering you couldn't go so close the sharpness is impressive.

That's a good example of recursion! The reflections are beautiful and the graphical effect is very interesting in this photo. A great complement to your last photo that shows the whole scene. Wonderful composition!

Effective tight framing with wonderful reflections. After Gert's comment about a previous post I went looking and found spheres from Cyprus. Which were not as shiny. TFs!

Wow, what an amazing reflection photo, the reflections of the large spheres reflected in the other spheres make a mesmerising composition. The view of the city which we can see here is very appealing too with a fine sunlight. The distortion is very nice as well. Really well captured.

If this picture was a question in a quiz I should have guessed Kapoor. He is the master of the glittering reflection installations. If it was Jeff Koons the spheres should have formed a oversized balloon-animal and not a tree.
Kapoor is a sculptor high on the list of my favourites.
