Photographer's Note

19 January 2014. We awoke to the Symphony dropping anchor in Opunoha Bay, Moorea. From the Promenade Deck one could see the wondrous panorama, the focal point: the canine tooth-shaped Mt. Tohivea, soaring higher than a 400-story skyscraper. The island with a population of 16,000 is rivaled in beauty only by Bora Bora, an hour by air to the northwest. This particular shot was from the Promenade Deck of the Crystal Symphony, which along with its sister ship, Crystal Serenity, is rated at the pinnacle of the cruise ship business. I was on board giving a series of talks on the ship.

It is strange to label a location on the globe diametrically opposite Europe as "France," but that is what French Polynesia happens to be. Tahiti and Moorea are French Colonies, and they are magnificent. Two years earlier, in January 2012, we were in Moorea, and I posted, "Return from Paradise", and "Return from Paradise II".
