Photographer's Note

I think that everyone going to Georgia wants to see this famous church Tsminda Sameba. It means the Holy Trinity and there is also big church in Tbilisi with the same name. Not only the church is worth visiting, also the way to it, Georgian Military Road is spectacular.
One can go by marshrutka, very cheap, but than you see wonderful landscape behind the windows and you are unhappy that you can't stop for photos. Beisdes, there are interesting places on the way, like Ananuri fortress and Jvari Pass also worth visiting, so we took a taxi. We started early in the morning and as the day in Georgia begins rather late, the driver was not glad with it.

The Georgian Military Highway Voyenno-Gruzinskaya doroga, is a mountain road that crosses the Greater Caucasus Mountains and connects Tbilisi in Georgia with the Russian town of Vladikavkaz in North Ossetia. It passes through narrow gorges squeezed between colossal mountains, which makes for some amazing views.

This epic journey across the traditional boundary of Europe and Asia reaches nearly 2,400 m in the Jvari Pass and is dominated by the massive Mount Kazbek whose 5,033 m peak straddles the continental divide.

Despite being a rough ride, it is the easiest way to navigate the political minefield of the Caucasus region and to travel between Russia's Northern Caucasus and the countries of the southern Caucasus.

My POV is similar to Paul's, but the time of the year was different, and as you can see, we had all this for ourselves. We were even afraid that the road would be closed, with snow or mud, but it was OK.
