Photographer's Note

This photograph is taken in the Ghibli art museum in Mitaka under Tokyo. It is in the place contiguous to Inokashira Park which leaves the image of Musashino here, and the circumference is a quiet residential section. This is the animation art museum opened in 2001. As for inside of a hall, data such as exhibition of the principle of animation, primitive anime, etc., scenery reappearance of a manufacture studio, and a continuity with drawings of all the past Ghibli works, are exhibited. Moreover, in the roof, the robot soldier of 「Castle in the Sky」 is exhibited. Studio Ghibli mainly makes work of the long animation movie as core business. Moreover, the name of "Studio Ghibli" originates in the hot wind (ghibli) blown on Sahara Desert. A work is continueing as "My Neighbor Totoro" in 1988 to a start about "Castle in the Sky" in 1986, "Princess Mononoke" in 1997, and "Spirited Away" in 2001. Most works are based on animator Hayao Miyazaki's produce. The feature common to a work is drawing the fantasy world which has many things on the theme of natural environment. Sixty animators deal with one work in manufacturing, applying two years. Although I do not know how it is now, it is not the manufacture technique that made full use of computer graphics which is looked at by the Disney movie but the handmade household industry technique. Moreover, there are works which does not necessarily finish it as a happy end. It could be said that it is one different symbol from old Japanese culture which postwar Japanese culture sent to the world.
