Photographer's Note

The sun was slowly disappearing and I was mesmerized by the magical light reflected on the mighty Mekong River before dusk, capturing the stillness of that very moment and transmitted a fraction of its pure beauty. It seems like nothing is disturbing this peacefulness scene and nothing was. A view of a calmer side, a slow flowing of the river taken in Vientiane during the dry season when the water level can be very low, exposing some patches of islands or sand bars on the river as can be seen in the distance.

You can almost walk across the river in some areas and watch the locals coming home from fishing, some fishermen would still try to catch fish and some kids will be still swimming while youngsters and others will be taking a romantic walk. It's a fascinating place to sit alone, relax by the bank and soak up the calm atmosphere while watching the last sun rays and its tranquil glow.

And to the Laotians, Mekong is the river of life..
