Photographer's Note
Devastated by the 2003 Canberra firestorm, Mount Stromlo Observatory is being rebuilt gradually. The skeleton of the dome of the destroyed 50-inch Great Melbourne Telescope, within which this photo was taken, remains as a monument to the tragedy.
