Photographer's Note

This view is of the prayer hall, taken from the courtyard. Partially hidden behind the central pillar, with its carved capital showing motifs of Moorish influence, is the mihrab. Above the mihrab are old stained glass windows. There was a minbar here dating from 1350 CE, but it is now in the Musée Dar el-Batha. so you have to imagine it. Later, when I visited the museum, the minbar was not on display, so I kept on imagining it. The roofs above the prayer hall are pitched, and the stuccowork is extensive and wonderful.
