Photographer's Note

Sirogojno is a small village at the Zlatibor mountain in Serbia. It is special in many ways, one of them being the Open-Air Museum called "Old Village". The project started about 30 years ago, when old traditional Serbian houses from the Zlatibor region were carefully moved from their original locations and rebuilt in this place. This exceptional ethno-museum is showing how people used to live in this area during the XIX century. Most of the houses are covered with the traditional wood batten roofs. But there are several with beautiful slate roofs, showing the way slate used to be processed in the past.
