Photographer's Note

This is the temple of Saint Athanassios in the deserted village of Palaios (old) Platanos.

The village's history written on a plaque in the village entrance:
"In the 16th century residents from South Almiros and Ancient Alos immigrated to Platanos because of a plague disease. During the war against the Ottoman Empire, the village was burned down three times, in 1821, 1833 and 1854. In 1878 Palios Platanos was fully destroyed from the Ottoman army. In 1897 a part of the village was once again burned. During the 2nd World War, the Italian army was the last to fully burn Palios Platanos. In 1960 the village was deserted. Its residents moved to a new location, where the new village Platanos was built".

Hi Contantinos,
a nice picture showing an intresting place. I like the soft natural colors and the light of the sun is very sweet. Nice sharpness and details.

Hi Kostas,
I see you have been going to the Giorgio (clementi) school of colour reproduction :). I like the earthy colour tones, very much in keeping for this old deserted building. The low light enhances the view nicely.

deserted village, but an absolutely impressive church..
can so be seen on different places in the whole world, i guess..

Υπέροχη εκκλησία, η πέτρα έχει άλλη χάρη! Απλή αλλά πολύ καλή σύνθεση, αψογο κάδρο, τέλεια διαχείριση του ζεστού φωτός, υπέροχα χρώματα! Συγχαρητήρια!

Fantastique image, quelle belle église avec ces cyprès ces vielles pierres, ces otn sdoux, le cadrage fait comme un courbe avec le vieux mur, mangigique.

Hello Contantinos,

The temple of Saint Athanassios middle of the village's history on a plaque to the village entrance can we not see.
But we see a very nice oud temple also the green trees care for a good contrast.
Nice composition and good presentation.

Κώστα καλησπέρα,
πολύ καλή καταγραφή της εκκλησίας του Αγ.Αθανασίου,με το απαλό φως να φωτίζει υποδειγματικά τον ναό και τον περιβάλλοντα χώρο.Τα κυπαρίσσια από την μιά και το καμπαναριό από την άλλη, ισορροπούν τέλεια το όλο σκηνικό.
