Photographer's Note

Isn't it strange to see such autumn colours in a mountainous region, in the heart of winter (last days of January)? Something's wrong with the climate, for sure.

Anyway, here you can see one of the "twin" villages located in the "shadow" of Tymfi mountain, and the famous "towers" of Astraka (you 'll see them in some future post). Here is the small "brother", Mikro (Small) Papigo, about 2 km distance from its big "brother", Megalo (Big) Papigo. Mikro Papigo lies at an altitude of 980 m and Megalo Papigo at an altitude of 900 m. Tymfi mountain (behind) has a lot of peaks above 2.000 m. the highest of them all is Gamila (2.497 m).

Both villages are a great example of the finest traditional architecture of mountainous Greece, and if you go there you will enjoy a unique atmosphere. Many picturesque guesthouses and tavernes with local dishes, will cover every need of the visitors. An ideal place for peaceful holidays throughout the year, in summer you can also swim in the most beautiful natural "pools" of the world ( see photos HERE and HERE)!
