Photographer's Note

One of the ways to get to La Tortuga, a marvellous group of islands in the Venezuelan Caribbean, is to join a group of people who do kajaking. That's what I did. The trek includes transportation from Caracas to Carenero (one of the possible departure points to get there), yacht transportation to the islands and between them, camping material, food and, should you be enthusiastic about kajaking, two excursions by kajak to exercise and know a little more about this stunningly beautiful place. To see a bit of this destination, please refer to my previous pictures.

La Tortuga is a group of four islands situated in front of Boca de Uchire (a small town just across the border between Miranda and Anzoátegui) at some 3 hours by sea. Unfortunately, there is no marina or port there, so you have to choose between Puerto La Cruz and Carenero, if you are on terra firma. You can also take a trip to La Tortuga from Margarita Island or the Archipelago of Los Roques.

This is a shot of the kajaks as they were ordered on the sand on the morning just before the second expedition. I kind of liked the color combination and the composition. I sharpened and increased contrast.
