Photographer's Note

Belay point during a climbg to "Jardineros de Grandes Paredes", 7b, 300m in Acopan Tepuy, Gran Sabana, Venezuela.

Tepuys are table top mountains that can be found on the southern part of Venezuela, as well as on some parts of Brasil and Guyana. These rock formations are among the oldest ones on Earth and due to its isolated nature, on the top several endemic species can be found.

For the climbing community, tepuys represent a very attractive destination, with high quality rock and adventurous approximations to its bases.

The name Tepuy means "house of the gods" in the native tongue of Pemons, the indigenous people who live in the area.
