Photographer's Note

Montevideo's waterfront is dominated by the Rambla, a long series of beaches and promenades on the Rio de la Plata. This shot was taken just to the east of Old Town, where the beach section of the Rambla begins; west of here is a sea wall with rocky outcroppings and the remains of older piers and wharves.

This is a nice, representative shot of the Rambla as we saw it on a particularly nice winter day, with children and a dog playing on the beach at low tide, while a couple talks at the end of an old pier, bathed in late afternoon light.
