Photographer's Note

About 15 km out of Urubamba lies the village of Moray. In Inca times ( circa 1400 A.D.) this was the site of what appears to have been an experimental agronomy laboratory. In concentric terraces 150 m deep, the Incas developed microclimates to test their crops. Depending on light and other microclimatic differences, temperatures between terraces vary by as much as 20°C. To give you some idea of the size of this laboratory, the tiny object at 9 o'clock on the third inner terrace is a human being!
Standing above this scientific workshop nearly 700 years old, one feels both humbled and awed.
