Photographer's Note
Another very old picture of the poor quality but I want to show it anyway, even without smileys.
What was my most memorable journey, I was often asked. I think it was the long journey to Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador in 1999. Seeing Peru and especially Macchu Picchu was my long dream. After some excursions with the travel agencies, I decided to organize the trip by myself and go with a few friends. But for a long tiime I couldn't find the people wanting to go with me. Finally, quite desperate, I put the advertisement in the newspaper. And it worked! I met two women that wanted to go with me and my friend. They decided just in a few minutes. Probably it was a bit risky to go with somebody unknown, both for us and for them. But we didn't think about it. It was a long five weeks trip. When we landed in Lima, I was scared. How would it be? What about my Spanish? And first of all, how will we feel in high altitudes. I was glad that the newly met woman was a doctor.
Fro Lima we went to Paracas and Ballestas Islands know as the poor man's Galapagos. In this (poor) picture it s the view of the cave in so-called Cathedral - the impressive rock formation on the coast. Sadly , it doesn't exist anymore. Some years later, in 2007 it was destroyed by the earthquake. You can see in Workshop the collage with the cathedral in my photo and the photo taken after the earthquake [from https://hakutours.blogspot.com/2018/11/paracas-national-reserve.html].

Hello Malgo,
A full programme to visit those three countries in five weeks.
In 2001 I travelled through the southern half of Peru for one month and I remember how long the bus trips were.
At the time Peru was a country about which I had read the most terrible stories (about robbery), but I only met very friendly and helpful people during my entire journey. It also remains one of my most beautiful travel destinations.
I visited the Islas Ballestas but once back from the islands, I left immediately. So I didn't see these rock formations.
They look very impressive. Beautiful with the difference between the dark and the light coloured rocks.
The people give us a good idea of the huge dimensions.
So this so-called cathedral doesn't exist anymore.
Just like the Azure Window in Gozo that I have seen in time.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Malgo,
What an intrepid traveller you are!
I admire your determination to visit these places and, in the end, it all worked out fine!
This is a remarkable photograph!
It is easy to see why it was called The Cathedral, with its gigantic size and domed ceiling.
The people are well included, seemingly extensions of the wet, black rocks and showing up well against the pale rock sides.
Your w/s show just how devastating earthquakes can be! Hopefully no-one was visiting at the time!
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hello Malgo.
I think the quality is quite okay, so you shouldn't worry about not receiving smileys. In any case this natural phenomenon is so impressive that it deserves to be shown here, especially since it no longer exists. I like, of course, the inclusion of a few persons, the shape of the vaults and the contrasts of dark and light parts.
The missed opportunity during my travels that I feel most sorry for is that for unlucky circumstances couldn't see the giant Buddhas of Bamiyan in Afghanistan in 1973. In 2001 they were destroyed by the Taliban.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Malgo,
Your picture is a giving me a chance to see something that has been destroyed account of an earthquake. The presence of the persons is animating the scene. The workshop is a very good complement to the main picture. Have a nice day.

Hi Malgorzata
A life in picture together with your WS images really tell a story and history of the place, a fitting shots to keep the memories alive. You managed the exposure quite well with excellent detail of the geological formation which is very well illustrated all in natural colours. Presence of the semi silhouetted figs makes this shot even more striking and livelier, and overall this looks so cool on the eye. Tx to your competent scan job. Congrats
Best regards

Hello Malgo, you were so fortunate to be able to see this impressive structure before it’s demise.
An excellent point of view with the wet rocks looking an uneasy walk to obtain a different view.
The inclusion of the people really does aid our appreciation of the scale of the Cathedral.
This is not a poor picture.
Thank you for the ‘after’ pictures, what a disaster that this phenomenon was destroyed.
Kind regards, Jean.

Dear Malgo,
I'm sad to learn that this beautiful natural phenomenon doesn't exist anymore. On the other hand you recorded it for the eternity. Its an excellent shot, and in my opinion it would work well in BW too. I took the liberty and made a BW version. Since I used up my WS limit for today, I share it as a google link:

Hello Malgo,
A beautiful view of this impressive rock formations. These kinds of natural wonders are unfortunately quite vulnarable, but you were lucky to see it while it was still there. I think the quality of the photo is excellent, fine lighting too.

Good afternoon Malgorzata,
Very beautiful your picture. It is interesting to know that this landscape does not exist anymore, so good that you were able to visit in enough time and still get to know the place.
Very interesting your note of how you organized your trip, you were very brave. But it's good that in the end everything went well and it was an incredible journey.
Best regards Walter

Hi Malgo
I'm back from the outback where there was no wifi or mobile phone reception.
An oldie but goody! The slightly soft sharpness and detail has produced an atmospheric photo of a spectacular spot.
cheers

An excellent picture from the past, Malgo, and mostly because it collapsed and do not seem as it was in 1999.
A well scanned photo, superbly handled the outside light there.
Have a nice sunday,
Ike

Hello, the waves have digged that immense cave and a spectacular arch of stone. Unfortunately it collapsed due to the earthquake, the collage in the workshop illustrates well what happened. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Zdazylas odwiedzic jaskinie przed zawalaniem... Ty masz na koncie chyba wiecej takich "katastrof" - odwiedzasz miejsce a pozniej... ;)
