Seat of the Executive Branch. Built between 1858-1867 to serve as residence for the General Francisco Solano López, who couldn't live in it for the beginning of the War of the Triple Alliance.

Used by the occupation forces until 1876, it was restored and inaugurated in 1892 for the purpose of the 4th Centenarian of the Discovery of America. It became converted into the seat of the Government in 1894.
