Photographer's Note

The Pilón de Azúcar beach is protected by a hill with the same name, from which we can see the whole region of Cabo de la Vela, one of the northern parts of South America. This hill has a deep mythological meaning to the Wayuu, for they believe that after dying they pass there. Here the beaches have golden sand, making them different from the other beaches of the Colombian Caribbean, with white sand.
