Photographer's Note

Rock Caye at San Andrés is a nice snorkeling place. The wreck in the background is lying on a sandbank and many fishes are living at this "ship" reef.

Located only 220 km east of Nicaragua, the San Andrés y Providencia archipelago belongs to Colombia due to a treaty (Esguerra-Bárcenas) signed on March 28, 1928, that states that Colombia recognizes Nicaraguan sovereignty of the Mangle Islands and Costa Mosquitia, while Nicaragua recognizes Colombian sovereignty over San Andrés Island, Providencia Island, Santa Catalina Island, plus small islands and keys around the archipelago.

Splendid framing situation on the center of the picture. I can even think of a heavy crop resulting in a vertical composition, with the palmtree the two people and the ship. Nice tropical mood.

Hi, Achim -

Nice beachcomber shot. Even though the elements are mostly on the left, the arrangement still looks balance, I think because of the darkness of the branches in the foreground and because the main tree leans toward the right. It gave me pause for thought.

Das scheint ein Traumstrand zu sein...und fast menschenleer.Das Bild lässt mich noch mehr auf Indien im January freuen ,weg von der Kälte.
Tolle Kompo mit der Diagonale der Küste,der kleinen Palme,den par Menschen,der kleinen Insel........alles perfect hier.Ein Bild zum träumen,mit laufender und teurer Heizung.....

Classic, simple, colorful, compelling, makes wishing to be there... I'd call that a very good picture!
The composition is somewhat between a diagonal and a symmetric with the palm tree, but the main focus shifts to the people on the beach so the rest become part of the decor.

Merci pour cette photo qui fait rêver. Le sable est si blanc et la mer si belle qu'on accompagnerait volontiers ces baigneurs pour faire un plongeon. Le palmier occupe bien le centre et fait un excellent graphisme.

Hi Achim,

The diagonal line made by the beach is an asset to the composition. The presence of the people on the beach has an effect of scale. The point of view takes our eyes toward the horizon which is giving depth to the photo. The light is enhancing the different tints of colors of the scenery. Have a nice day.
