Photographer's Note

Another picture I took in the Parque Tayrona in Colombia! This protected national park lies in the Colombian northern Caribbean region and is named after the indigenous tribe of the Tairona who used to - and still - live in this region!

The park stretches along the coast between the sea and the mountain range of Santa Marta (an impressive view). It offers three campsites to an rapidly growing amount of backpackers from all over the world! Imagine: Only some ten or even five years ago, only few travelers went to the park, due to the high possibility of being kidnapped by Guerilla forces.

The parque Tayrona today, besides being one of the most beautiful natural sites in Colombia, is also a proof of how rapidly this country is changing, showing it's true beauty to the world.
