Photographer's Note

This is a Moai, and theres 600+ of then on Easter Island.
Easter Island was one of the most spectacular and remote place's I've been.
Its about 2000k west off the coast of chile and you can fly with either Quantas or Lan chile from Santiago and it will take about 5 hours.
You can of course also get there via Tahiti and again its going to take you 5 hours.
If you in this part of the world and you have the money its realy is a must do/see.

Easter Island can get quite expensive "not as expensive as tahiti tho", but the people there are the most friendly I have every had the pleasure of meeting.
Try the sea food, its well priced and was probably caught the same day.
Also you must do the tours, there a good two day tour that takes you all over the island, and it will explain everything to you.

Extra note - this is a little known fact, even tho its one of the most remote populated places on earth.
NASA built an emergency runway there, just incase the space shuttle needed to return early, it streches the whole width of the isalnd and its about 1 1/2 miles long.
