Photographer's Note

This photo was tken on the Rano Raraku volcano.
It's an exceptionnal site because the volcanic rock called "Tuff" served as raw material for creating moais.
On the little path curving in the hills, we can see hundreds of moai.
Finally, at the top of the volcano, there's a lot of giant moai semi-finished, trapped in the rock, where they had been abandonned.
One of the mysteries of this island is why did they do so much hard work to let everything one day to another.
Some says it was a war between tribes, a disease, a lack of faith...
From the top of the volcano, we can see an ahu (platform) on the shore situated at about 1 km and also the path that pascuan took with their giant statues. we can guess the path they took to bring the statues to the ahu.
it's a long path going down but also going up !
