Photographer's Note

Santiago after sunset

This picture and the one in the workshop were taken on the roof of the building where I was staying in Santiago.
31 floors high the views over the city reached far, even until the peaks of the Andes (see WS).
Actually, this was the only good thing of my accommodation in Santiago :(

Before I left for Chile I knew it wasn’t a cheap destination. But still it surprised me that accommodation was more expensive than in Japan (my previous trip) and that while the price-quality ratio was just about the worst ever.
I admit that I have stayed in worse conditions in some other countries but there the overnights were really cheap. Especially the fact that the rooms in budget hotels in Chile were always cold, even very cold, was a bummer. And in July, the weather in northern Chile and in the Andes might well be sunny and bright but nevertheless it was winter and the nights were cold.
