Mané Garrincha (1933-83) was one of the best soccer players of the world, many people says it was even better than Pelé. He was nicknamed "the angel of the bend legs".
The National Stadium was named in his homage, but during the world Cup of 2014 it was necessary a big number of new stadiums and the old ones were renovated. This old stadium was transformed in a big one and it was used a huge amount of money on it, this was one of the many scandals of Dilma government.
After a long delay they wanted to put another name in the stadium by locals demanded the old name on it. At the end the city got a huge stadium, but its soccer teams were so small to attract so many people and nowadays the stadium is used as a giant place for musical events.
Here we can see the external ring of columns and the empty parking lot, the Big Axis, the TV tower and the hotel sector, JK Memorial are around. At left you can see the Gymnasium I showed you few days ago.

Mané Garrincha (1933-83), foi um dos maiores jogadores de futebol do mundo e alguns dizem que ele era mesmo melhor que Pelé. Foi apelidado de "Anjo das pernas tortas".
O estádio nacional de Brasília foi batizado com seu nome, mas quando da organização da copa de 2014 o país necessitava de estádios maiores e mais modernos e os antigos como esse foram renovados. Gastaram uma gigantesca quantia de dinheiro e houve um grande atraso nas obras. Quiseram modificar o nome do estádio, mas a população local exigiu o nome tradicional. Por fim a cidade ficou com um estádio imenso, mas seus times de futebol eram pequenos demais para o seu uso e agora o estádio é usado como local de eventos musicais.
Vemos aqui o anel de colunas diante do estacionamento vazio. O estádio fica próximo da Torre de TV, do setor hoteleiro, do Eixão e do Memorial JK. O ginásio que eu mostrei há alguns dias aparece do lado esquerdo da foto.
