Photographer's Note

I shot this in my way back to Curitiba, after a tasteful Barreado in Antonina. The road is called Estrada da Graciosa which passes through the Serra do Mar, connecting the Capital in the highlands to Morretes and Antonina towns at the sea level. It's the old and the pleasantest way for sure.

Serra do Mar (Portuguese for Mountain Range of the Sea) is a 1,500 km long system of mountain ranges and escarpments in Southeastern Brazil, which runs in parallel to the Atlantic Ocean coast, from the state of São Paulo to Paraná. The main escarpment forms the boundary between the sea-level littoral and the inland plateau (planalto), which has a mean altitude of 500 to 1300 m.

Barreado is a typical meal of the coast of Paraná. It is boiled beef cooked in a closed casket for many hours. It is be served with rice, cassava flour, banana, fish and seafood.
