Photographer's Note

Praia de Camboinhas - Camboinhas Beach - is an extension of the Itaipu Beach located at the ocean region of greater Niterói. You can enjoy amazing views to the natural skyline of Rio de Janeiro - watch Sugar Loaf, Corcovado until Pedra da Gávea while (sun) bathing. The area is safe. There are several nice hostels and hotels. You can take the catamaran from Charitas to get to Rio de Janeiro Downtown in about half an hour. By car you probably take one hour even though it is actually close.

The water of the sea is clear and green. The sand is extremely fine and mostly very clean. Sometimes the waves get a little stronger and show up good surfing conditions. There is a long sea promenade where several kiosks invite you to have fresh fish or just a cold beer. The beach is perfect for long walks-don’t forget sun-blocker!

A visit to the Camoinhas beach can be perfectly integrated with a visit of the Fortaleza Santa Cruz da Barra.

P.S. Nikity=Niterói.

Have a nice weekend!
