Photographer's Note

you can see Presidente Vargas Avenue here which leeds to the Candelaria church that you can see far in the background. The tower with the clock is the Central do Brasil, the train station of Rio de Janeiro, that unfortunatelly until now recieves only regional trains and the subway, but plans are made to finally connect Sao Paulo with Rio again by train. the highest - black - building is of the Central Bank of Brazil.

The statue in the foreground is to the honour of Ganga Zumbi the probably most famous leader of the quilombos of Palmares fighting against slavery and discrimination.
