Bradesco Seguros e Previdência Christmas offers the traditional Christmas Tree (11th Edition) on the waters of Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. Since its first edition, in 1996, the Tree has received awards such as Top of Marketing and in 1999 it entered the Guiness Book of Records as the largest floating Christmas decoration in the world. Already considered the third largest event of Rio de Janeiro, the Christmas Tree will honor this year, the Brazilian family with 27 X-mas balls, each one with the reference-image of every State, besides the traditional ornaments and lights. The Pão de Açúcar [Sugar Loaf Hill] will represent Rio. In the opening day, December 2nd, at 8 p.m., in the Cantagalo Park, there will be a concert by the Bradesco Foundation choir and by the Petrobrás Symphonic Orchestra and the participation of Ana Botafogo and Carlinhos de Jesus. The water ballet will be synchronized with colorful water spouts reaching 20 meters high, and theme-songs. As to the lighting, there will be 2.8 million micro-lamps, 35 thousand meters of lighting hose and one thousand small strobe lights shaped as stars. In the day after the opening, the Tree will be transferred to the Curva do Calombo, where it will remain until December 26. Then, it will go to the Patins Park, where it will be dismantled – on January 6. The event will be presented by the actor Edson Celulari.

I took this photo from the Ipanema side, and I did not have a tripod unfortunatelly, beside this it was one of my first night shots, so it is kind of lacking quality.
I took a lot with the Corcovado in the background, but all went out superblured etc.
Nice last working day for that week to everybody

P.S. I think the this year'S tree will be inaugurated on 2nd of December - there is going to be a firework, so if you have the chance go up to Corcovado !!!
