Photographer's Note

Carnaval is the most popular party in Brazil. Usually 3 to 4 months before it (it usually occurs by the end of frebruary), there are a lot already going on in Rio. Rehearsal of school of samba in local courts (usually inside of Rio's famous favelas) where anyone can go, carnaval blocks (small schools of samba) have small parades in those months before carnaval.

In that particular day, a local store invite a school of samba to make a party every saturday in the public square just in front of it. Bateria (group of percussionits), passistas (dancers as those ones) and baianas (old ladies in traditional customs) assemble a small, but very fun party.

My friend, Juliana, which invited me to take those picture this day, presented a great series of shots too!

Ola Joel, uma foto muito bem captada. Gostei do grafismo. As cores bem chamativas das vestimentas. O ponto de vista esta muito bom. Muito bom recorte e transmite muito bem a forca dos bailarinos. Bom trabalho. Gabriel.

woww!!! best carnival/samba/party shot i've seen on te! awesome energy, yes i can almost feel the music and the drums. excellent pov, perfect framing and dof (love the party going on in the bg). the hands, the thighs and other bodyparts :-) all full of motion and rythm.. straight to my favs.

great shot Joel, you captured the moment perfectly. The motion and energy of the dancer comes across really well, and the face on the man is priceless.
