Photographer's Note

This is part of huge sculture that shows a jubarte whale (Humpback Whale) and a diver close to the fin. I took the photo from below the diver where it seems he was diving in the sky.

In the workshop the complete sculture showing the whale in life size and you can see how small is the diver close to it.

I love this sculpture.

The sculpture have a metal structure covered with plates of bronze and brass alloy metal frame. It measures 20 meter long, 4 meters wide and 5 meters tall and weighs 4.165kg.

The project aimed to honor the endangered animal that made in Rio das Ostras sea part of it itineraries. It was created in 2001 at the suggestion of Gilles Bonnecarrere, French photographer, friend of the artist, Roberto Sa, internationally known for hyper-realistic sculptures.

This is the largest sculpture to a cetacean in the world.

Rio das Ostras is located in the north of Rio de Janeiro state.
