Photographer's Note

The Cathedral of Petrópolis is little sharp a neogótica Latin cross church with transepto and three ships. The headboard possesss a deambulatory hardwired with the main chapel. The cathedral measures in total 70 meters of length and 22 meters of width, with a height of 19 meters in the ships. The main façade of the church has a vestibule with multiple archivolts in form of pointed arcs. In the place of the spandrel it has a Calvário (Christ Crucificado, Virgem and Jose de Arimatéia), and in the superior part of the façade meet statues of the four evangelistas (They are Marcos, They are Lucas, They are João and They are Mateus). All these sculptures are of authorship of Adam Bordignon (c. 1935). The façade also contains a beautiful rosette.
