Parish Greco Melquita Saint Jorge belongs all to the greco-melquita archbishopric for Brazil, situated in São Paulo. With strong presence of Arab immigration, Juiz De Fora gained its melquita temple in 1958.The modern architecture like a "flying saucer" received influence of Brazilia city at that time.The immigrants, Christians of the east, who lived here, to that time, had felt the necessity to construct a church where they had a proper space of conjunct, then, appeared the Melquita Church, as he is known, in the quarter Saint Helena. The mass obeys the bizantino rite, of this form, is praid in Portuguese, Greek and Arabic" , it says pároco. It explains that to keep the tradition and, at the same time to become to understand, he repeats in Arabic and Greek the stretches that speak in Portuguese and musics also are sung in the three languages.
