Photographer's Note

The first bridge built in Juiz de Fora was Arthur Bernardes, better known as the Halfeld Bridge. The 1923 building, in neoclassical style, linked for the first time both sides of Brazil Avenue to the most charming street in the city, Halfeld, where there was Footing, Cinema São Luiz "in the golden times" and many famous shops. The luminaires and balusters gave a good finish to the building, which, over time, was forgotten and eventually deteriorated. Today the importance of the Arthur Bernardes Bridge has been recognized again and has already been restored. The original aspects were rescued, with the construction of posts similar to those used in the 1920s and a painting in soft tones, like the one of the time.
